Realistic Horse Resale Prices V1.0

Realistic Horse Resale Prices

Horse resale prices, fixed. No more $2 payouts, values are pushed to the ceiling the game’s catalog allows.

Tired of the game treating a fully grown, trained horse like a half eaten apple? This mod fixes that. Horses are worth what a horse should be worth, and you can tune exactly how much via a simple INI file.
‎ ‎ ‎
Yes, this probably wrecks economy balance. You can farm wild horses and sell them for real money now, but at least those garbage prices are gone. Also, realism/historical accuracy > balance.

Base prices are pushed as close to real 1899ish horse values as the game’s own economy allows, but never past a horse’s actual catalog purchase price. Otherwise you’d be able to re-sell a horse for higher than the stables are selling it for, which would be stupid.
‎ ‎ ‎
In practice this means the mod is only as historically accurate as Rockstar’s own catalog lets it be. Some breeds like Arabians and Turkomans are already priced by the game as premium, and this mod lets that premium actually show up at resale instead of being flattened to vanilla’s pathetic ~2%.
‎ ‎ ‎
Other breeds are catalog-cheap regardless of their real-world reputation. A Morgan Palomino for instance, sells for a real $15 at the stable in-game, so $15 is its ceiling here too, even though a Morgan historically was worth considerably more. Wild-caught horses (Mustangs, Nokotas, etc.) aren’t affected by this the same way, since there’s no “purchase price” to be capped against beyond the catalog’s own sell reference.
‎ ‎ ‎
So this is “as historically accurate as the base game’s own pricing will allow,” not a full economic overhaul. If you want numbers that ignore the purchase-price ceiling entirely, that’s not what this mod does… on purpose.
‎
Here are some examples of Old vanilla prices vs New modded prices. These values are at unbonded level, meaning they will scale up once you increase the bonding with the horse.
‎
The base prices and multipliers are all configurable via the .ini file. Hard ceilings still apply, and the mod has a global $1,250 ceiling for all breeds, which matches the most expensive horse in story mode.
‎
Since this is a script and not a file edit, it’s compatible with any mod that edits the catalog. Although all the base prices + ceilings use the vanilla prices as default, so if a particular mod edits the prices for the horses, the new prices would not be detected by this mod. This may be changed in a future update, by making the mod read the catalog values in real time.
