A long forgotten personal mod, finally released.
Functional Bandana makes masks and bandanas actually matter in free roam. While masked, you can:
Prevent honor loss
Stay an unknown suspect instead of being identified by name
Prevent bounty increases
Each feature can be enabled or disabled independently in the ini.
Yes, I know there are already several mods covering this idea. This is just another take with a few extra features I havent seen elsewhere:
Per-town identity cooldown (optional): Once you’re identified in a town, your mask won’t hide your identity there again until the cooldown expires.
Line of sight identity detection: Removing your mask during a pursuit only reveals your identity if a lawman actually has line of sight to your uncovered face. If nobody can see you, you remain an unknown suspect until they can.
Custom mask support: It should already work with modded masks and bandanas, but you can add additional drawable names or hashes from clothing mods to the ini so they’re recognized as valid masks.
—New in 1.1—
Per-location mission recognition (optional): Even with blockIdentity enabled, the more missions you’ve completed in a town, the more likely townsfolk and law will recognize you through your mask. Each protagonist (Arthur/John) has their own tracked mission set per location. Configure the base chance, mission bonus per completed quest, and a hard cap, all in the ini.
Two cooldown modes: Choose between hard mode (cooldown completely blocks the bandana effect, the original behavior) or exponentialChance mode (cooldown doesn’t hard-block, instead recognition becomes exponentially more likely right after exposure, decaying to normal as the cooldown expires).
