Munitions – A Weapon Mod V1.0

Munitions - A Weapon Mod

Changes the ammo and weapon system, while adding new guns, customization options, variants, and discoverables throughout the world of Red Dead Redemption II.

Munitions brings significant changes to nearly every aspect of Red Dead Redemption II’s weapon system. The key feature of this mod are the new weapons that use new models with working animations and an abundance of customization options. More customization and quality of life improvements have been given to every single weapon in the game. There have also been tweaks to existing options like gun metals and tints.

Each weapon now uses only one cartridge (all shotguns use 12ga Shells and Slugs, except for the sawed-off, which only uses 20ga shells) This individual cartridge mechanic was done to make the ballistic characteristics for each weapon unique. Due to this mechanic, the hunting system has also been redone, and each cartridge yields a varying pelt quality depending on the size of the animal. The speed of weapon cocking and weapon reloads have been slowed down by a marginal amount, making gameplay more satisfying. Weapon damage, accuracy, and falloff has also been tweaked for each weapon.

Munitions implements a weight system for firearms in the game. Each weapon class has their own weight tier, and the more guns you carry on Arthur or John slows down their movement speed during gameplay.

Compatibility:

Any other mod that edits catalog_sp.ymt or weapons.ymt will break any functionality of this mod. It is safe to note that any other mod that replaces weapon models may break some weapons due to the way the models in Munitions are loaded in, I’ll be happy to clear up any compatibility with weapon replacers in the post section. Also, any mod that edits metals is 100% not compatible with Munitions, this is due to Munitions utilizing custom made metal entries for specific variants and bug fixes that aren’t present in any other metal mod, for use of other metal mods, merges would need to be made. For general advice, any mod that edits files that Munitions does, remove them to avoid any issues. Also, this mod edits gameconfig.xml to increase the pool size for weapon components, if you have any other mod editing this file, you will get an Unknown Error FFFFFF, a tutorial on merging with your personal gameconfig.xml will be in the Article section.

Known issues:

As for right now, a variant cannot be applied to your secondary sidearm, as it will remove the variant from your primary.
The variant system behaves a bit differently between ScriptHook AB and ScriptHook V2, UI changes within the script do not work with V2.
For the most functionality with the variant system, use ScriptHook AB when using this mod.
Occasionally, when entering the customization menu of a weapon equipped with a variant, it will have some texture issues, but this is easily restored when going in and out of the variant or customization menu. There’s no real pattern to this issue, and it might happen less with ScriptHook V2, but AB is still heavily recommended.
If you use the mod “Trailer 2 Build”, it will mess up some wrap tint options within the mod because of its edits to Graphics.YTD.
The Improved Bow is improperly placed when entering its customization menu, and its UI prompts to set it on your person do not properly grey out, this is due to the lack of missing features in the singleplayer gunsmith script, and can’t be fixed for the time being.

Installation:

Make sure you have “ScriptHookRDR2” (AB recommended) and “Lenny’s Mod Loader” already installed.
Once the requirements have been installed, drag the “lml” and “Munitions.asi” file to your RDR2 Directory.
More in-depth instructions are available in the “Posts” section of this mod page for the merge.
