Pickpocketing – Immersive Theft System V1.0

Pickpocketing - Immersive Theft System

Adds a fully integrated pickpocketing system to Red Dead Redemption 2 with vanilla-style interactions, valuables, witnesses, NPC reactions, law reporting and immersive feedback.

SO… WHAT DOES IT DO?

Seen a wealthy gentleman walking around Saint Denis with a nice coat and a pocket watch?

Now you can relieve him of it.

Quality Pickpocketing adds a proper pickpocket interaction to Story Mode.

Focus on someone, get behind them, and hold G when the Pick Pocket prompt appears.

Controller: D-Pad Up.

That’s pretty much it.

Whether you get away with it is another matter.

WHAT’S IN HIS POCKET?

You won’t be pulling canned beans and revolver ammo out of everyone’s trousers.

This is pickpocketing.

You’re after things worth stealing:

• Cash
• Pocket Watches
• Rings
• Earrings
• Bracelets

The valuables are actual RDR2 inventory items.

Steal a Silver Pocket Watch and you get an actual Silver Pocket Watch in your inventory, with its proper item artwork and pickup notification.

Some people have a decent amount of money.

Some have jewelry.

Some have nothing worth taking.

And yes — the better dressed gentleman in Saint Denis is probably a more interesting target than some poor bastard shoveling manure in Valentine.

TRY NOT TO GET CAUGHT

People generally don’t appreciate strangers going through their pockets.

If the victim notices, things can go a few different ways.

They might run.

They might report the theft.

They might turn around and beat the hell out of you.

And if they’re already carrying a knife or a gun, don’t expect them to politely leave it in their holster.

Other people can notice too.

A nearby NPC might witness the theft and decide to report what they saw — but not every witness will immediately sprint to the nearest lawman.

Sometimes you get away clean.

Sometimes you don’t.

HOW TO PICKPOCKET

1. Focus / lock onto an NPC like you normally would to Greet, Antagonize or Rob them.

2. Move behind them.

3. When you’re close enough and in a good position, Pick Pocket will appear with the normal interaction prompts.

4. Hold G to make the attempt.
Controller users: hold D-Pad Up.

5. Take your loot and carry on like you had absolutely nothing to do with it.
