A historic Subaru Impreza 555 Group A livery from the 1995 World Rally Championship season, one of the most important years in Subaru’s rally history. The works team, operated by Prodrive, entered Colin McRae and Carlos Sainz as its main drivers, with additional appearances from Piero Liatti, Richard Burns and Peter Bourne.
The Impreza 555 was the car to beat throughout much of the season. Subaru scored five outright WRC victories: Carlos Sainz won in Monte Carlo, Portugal and Catalunya, while Colin McRae took victories in New Zealand and Great Britain. At the season-ending RAC Rally, Subaru completed a remarkable 1-2-3 finish, with McRae ahead of Sainz and Richard Burns.
The 1995 campaign became legendary when Colin McRae secured the Drivers’ World Championship, while Subaru also captured the Manufacturers’ Championship. It marked the moment when the Impreza 555 fully established itself as one of the defining rally cars of the 1990s and began Subaru’s most successful period in the WRC.
