Frontier Horse Mod V1.0

Bring a rugged new companion to Arthur’s journey with the Frontier Horse Mod for Red Dead Redemption 2.
This mod introduces a distinctive buckskin horse with a strong frontier look, featuring a bold white blaze and four white socks that make the horse immediately recognizable. The darker mane and tail contrast nicely with the coat, giving it a tough, classic Western appearance that fits naturally into the world of Red Dead Redemption 2.
The horse was designed to feel like the kind of mount Arthur could realistically ride from the beginning of the game — strong, dependable, and visually unique without looking out of place. It works especially well for players who want a more memorable alternative to Arthur’s original starter horse while still keeping that authentic Wild West feeling.

Frontier Horse – Original Model Design
The Frontier Horse features my own original horse body design, created entirely by me.
The overall body proportions and shape were personally designed and adjusted by me, including the neck size and length, head size and shape, body proportions, chest, back, legs, and every other part of the horse’s physique.
This is not simply a recolor or texture replacement. The horse’s physical appearance and proportions were carefully designed to give the Frontier Horse its own distinctive look and character.
All body-shape and proportion choices used in this model are part of my original design work for the Frontier Horse mod.

Installation instructions

Installation is simple:
Place the included .ytd and .ymt files into your stream folder.
Start the game and the horse will replace Arthur’s starter horse by default.

The download also includes a file called Horse Code Names. This contains the internal names used for different horses in Red Dead Redemption 2.
By default, I made this mod replace Arthur’s starter horse, but you are not limited to that horse. If you want this horse to replace a different horse in the game, simply find the horse you want in the Horse Code Names file and rename the mod files to the corresponding horse name.
So you can use this horse as a replacement for almost any horse you want in RDR2, depending on which horse code name you choose.
I recommend keeping a backup of your original files before replacing or renaming anything.

Two Versions Included

The mod comes with two separate versions, so you can choose the one that fits your setup:

With Harnesses – Use this version if you are using the Horse Harnesses mod for Red Dead Redemption 2 and want the horse to work with harnesses.
Without Harnesses – Use this version if you do not use a harness mod and just want the normal horse version.

Simply choose the version you prefer and install the corresponding .ytd and .ymt files into your stream folder.
Both versions use the same horse design — the only difference is whether the horse is set up for harness compatibility.

A Personal Note
This is actually the first horse mod I’ve ever made, so it means a lot to me. I’ve always wanted a horse like this in Red Dead Redemption 2, and I’m really happy that I was finally able to create one exactly the way I imagined it.
I personally really like how the horse turned out, and it has quickly become one of my favorite mounts to use in the game. I wanted something that felt unique, but still looked like it truly belonged in the world of RDR2.
I made this mod mainly because it was something I always wanted for my own game, but I decided to share it in case other players were looking for something similar. I really hope everyone who downloads it enjoys riding this horse as much as I do.
Since this is my first horse mod, I’m especially happy to finally share it with the community.
