Red Dead Online has some of the best looking horses and coats in the game, but most of them are unavailable in story mode.
Online Horses in Singleplayer brings 48 horses from Red Dead Online into story mode and integrates them with the singleplayer stable experience, letting you browse, preview, purchase, name, store and manage them much like the horses already available in the base game.
This means you will also be able to actually keep and own these horses, the game will not convert them to a Tennessee Walker after you reload the game.
Included Breeds
The 48 horses are spread across:
Appaloosa
Arabian
Breton
Criollo
Gypsy Cob
Hungarian Halfbred
Kladruber
Missouri Fox Trotter
Mustang
Norfolk Roadster
Thoroughbred
Turkoman
Each breed includes its supported Red Dead Online coats, giving story mode a much larger selection of horses without replacing the existing singleplayer breeds.
You will need a mod that enables multiplayer assets. The one I’ve been using is LITE – Multiplayer Asset Enabler, but it should work with other unlockers too.
Visit a supported stable and use the Exotic Horses / Browse interaction to open the shop.
Choose a breed, select a coat, pick the horse’s sex, and purchase it.
Supported Stables
The Exotic Horses shop is available at:
Blackwater
Roanoke Ridge
Saint Denis
Scarlett Meadows
Strawberry
Tumbleweed
Valentine
The Stable menu uses the game’s localization system, so it should automatically translate to your language!
Every horse has its own default price, with higher-end horses generally costing more.
Prices can be changed in OnlineHorses.ini, so you can rebalance the shop however you like. Set any horse’s price to 0 if you would rather make it free!
These horses can be fully customized at the stables, just like the vanilla singleplayer horses. You can rename them, change saddles, customize their manes/tails, and so on.
There are no limits to the amount of online horses you can own. You can fill all four stable slots with online breeds if you want!
The stable compatibility system is not limited to horses purchased through the included shop.
If you used a trainer to spawn a Kladruber for example, they will be supported by this mod, allowing them to work with the singleplayer stable system instead of behaving like temporary spawned horses.
When stabling an online breed, their breed or coat label may be empty. This is because these horses were not added to the catalog system, which would require file editing and is not worth the effort.
This glitch is merely cosmetic and does not affect the mod’s stabling functionality. The horse’s information will still appear properly after you stable it!
The mod also supports ownership of horses that were originally meant to be in story mode but got cut or transferred to RDO.
