Rwanda International Circuit v1.0

Rwanda International Circuit

Fictional Rwanda Grand Prix
FIA Grade: 1
Length: 5.302km
Turns: 18, going clockwise
Elevation difference: 50m
Altitude: ±1400m

Rwanda seriously aims to bring Formula 1 to the African continent in 2029. The actual circuit will be located close to the new Bugesera Airport.
My design, the Rwanda International Circuit, is a Grade 1 permanent Formula 1 track proposal, located close to the proposed site. It serves as a preview or example of how a permanent F1 track in Rwanda could look like.

Rwanda being the country of a thousand hills, this circuit uses elevation to its advantage. Another element at play is the altitude of almost 1400m, resulting in extreme top speeds of ±350km/h (for realism I suggest you use a low-downforce setup).

The main concept of the track layout is being able to race closely throughout the whole lap. The Rwanda Sling T1-3 and the Arena T4-6 demonstrate these principles the most. The battle then continues to the Land of a Thousand Hills T7-12, where clever car placement is key. The Bugesera Hairpin T15 is the most challenging corner on the track, as it requires braking while turning.

Notes
– Working AI, though beware of issues with them as they are not fully optimized.
– GrassFX (3D grass) is active.
– 32 pit/grid slots, usable for online races or with AI.
– A very low-downforce setup is recommended, as the high altitude does not get simulated in AC.
– 11 track cameras.
– Time to beat: 1:26.679 (F1 2023 car)
– Special credits to SplatRacer for assisting in the design process and providing useful feedback. Other credits to Zooming Past, Simon the Goose, and Kunos Simulazioni for providing assets.
